Video File Converter For iPod Touch

Post by Bubbie »

I recently got an iPod Touch and I'm trying to find some free video conversion software that can change avi and wmv files to formats compatible with Apple's iPod Touch without much of a hassle. Googling has picked up numerous sources, but I'm hesitant about putting files on my pc that may do more to my pc than they claim. Has anybody here used any of these freebie programs with good results? If so, which ones? Thanks in advance!

VLC is the one you want.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Wow, that seems to handle just about everything. Being a 16Mb program, it looks like replace several larger programs I use.

My former brother-in-law, who actually works for Apple in their video division, says he recommends HandBrake.

(I haven't used it yet, nor VLC, so have no personal experience to share. Just got an Apple TV, though, so am about to take the plunge.)

Thanks Simon and Herb for your help. I'm going to give both utilities a look.
