Name that kitten

Post by dwinterfield »

Our 20th anniversary was a couple of days ago. Today, our friend Elizabeth called to say she was coming over with our anniversary gift.

Our last cat passed away in November. We've been undecided. It took 3 minutes to decide. She's 9 weeks old and needs a name.

BTW the dog thinks this is all a huge mistake.

Suggestions welcome.

20 years - congratulations! That's quite a milestone.

The traditional 20th anniversary gift is China, so maybe that would be a good name for the new addition to the family.

Congratulations on the anniversary.

For the kitty, I think he looks like one Mr. Merrick Meerowr.

She looks like a Fern, or maybe Coffee.
Or Hatachi, which means 20 years old (your marriage) in Japanese.

James, if "she's 9 weeks old", "Mr. Merrick " might be a bit odd

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

You know, you've got a point there!

Da devil's in da de-tails, as they say.

Shan suggests "Splotch." I'm revising my suggestion to "Butternut." Something about her nose reminds me of butternut squash.

Hey, it isn't like the cat will care! My wife's cat's official name is "Oreo." But he only answers to STUUUUP! This started out as my personal nickname for him. (it is not short for "Stupendous," in case you're wondering) It stuck and new he doesn't even recognize his "real" name. He really likes being called Stup. Which sort of proves that it's the right name for him, I suppose.

But I digress. The point is, animals don't care what we call them. That's only important to us. They just don't want to be called late for dinner!

"China Blotch" seems a nice moniker... Maybe China Blotch Hatachi"... "Chibha" for short. :)

Fred always gets consideration here.

Her predecessors were Walker, Lulu and Pete.

Thanks for the ideas. The name has not yet made itself known.

Right now we're focusing on inter-species peace.

I would vote for china, too.
Or how about pumpkin (as someone mentioned butternut)?
I think Cara is also a nice cat name (meaning friend, in irish language)
