Not only does our avatar state what date we joined, but also what time we joined? I think I might need my tinfoil hat....

Some twit decided that we needed to see the time

The twit that designed the database needed to capture the time (as well as the date) in order to order the users in the order in which they joined the forum (ascending or descending).
