Greetings, Roland, from sunny Bude. I haven't been around much for a few days and am catching up with the thread. You're a true star, old chap! Both of you in fact! I'll be in East Budleigh on Monday afternoon so if you feel unusually strong vibes around then, with a suspiciously northern accent, it'll be me!
"Last night, among his fellow roughs,
He jested, quaff'd and swore."
They cut me down and I leapt up high
I am the life that'll never, never die.
I'll live in you if you'll live in me -
I am the lord of the dance, said he!
He jested, quaff'd and swore."

Lesley is sitting up, and there is talk of moving her from ICU to the high dependency ward, possibly tomorrow. Her temperature and blood pressure have been a bit high, which is why she has not yet moved, but the staff seem to be getting them under control now. She may also be released from some of her "attachments" soon, to her delight. She will start VERY gentle physio in a couple of days, too, to get her used to exercise again. I have reminded everyone that her walking and general movement is still very poor, not because of her heart but the surgery on her spinal cord. The physio has sworn he will be very careful with her - as she still has the remains of her two black eyes I don't think they will forget!
She has been writing again. The things she does are not really for public viewing - she has no idea that I post them here - but I think you have earned a share in this part of her recovery! Some are really for herself, I think, and to help her make sense of what has been happening to her, and some are perhaps for me too; I don't really know. But they do reflect her thoughts and feelings over this incredible period, and all seem to involve this music she hears when "in extremis".
It seemed then I had a choice:
Of listening forever
To music so exquisite
I would need or want for nothing else,
Or going back
To play imperfect tunes imperfectly,
Out of love,
Until at last I too might play
The music in my dreams.
I chose to stay
While I may,
And while the choice is mine.
I have a life to earn.
As you can probably see, she feels very deeply, and is so incredibly grateful to the donor family who gave her this chance. That is why she has to earn her life. I believe she will.
Thank you all again for your kindness and care. I could never, ever have done this without all of you, and I shall never forget how instrumental all of you on this board were in saving Lesley's life.
Ro (who has eaten, slept and breathed fresh air - although not Devon air!)
