Firefox 3!

Post by ketida »

I just updated to the Firefox 3 browser, and yowser, is it fast!!!

Plus, I think it's highly rated for pc's as the safest browser.

(I am not a geek oracle, just garnered various opinions from others.)

Time to stop turning round, I guess.

I'm using it on my laptop and am happy with it. My only complaint is that my two most used plugins (gesture support and bookmark sync) aren't supported yet.

I haven't tried it yet, but many of my old engineering coworkers have been
talking about it. One thing that sounds nice is that it waits for a successful
login attempt before asking to remember passwords. In Firefox 2, if you are
logging into a site, and you put in the wrong password, it will ask if you want
to remember it before you even know if you typed it correctly. Then it ends
up remembering a bunch of incorrect passwords. Oy.

I installed it last night. Happy so far, but /. reported a vulnerability that was discovered 5 hours after FF3 was put up...

I'm running it--so far so good.

Seems faster on Vista 64 than IE does.

Same for AdBlock, which is a bit annoying, I am used to getting pages without adds.

I think the most recent version should work.

It appears that Adblock Plus did indeed transfer over when I upgraded this morning.

No ads here, either. One of the nicest features of FF.

I can't log in to one site I regularly use, because Firefox doesn't like the security certificate, and won't let me override its decision, regardless of my security settings. I have reported it. Had to use IE again. Otherwise, pretty happy. PicLens and Adblock Plus have been updated to work.

Thanks, I don't know why I missed AdBlock plus, it surprised me it wasn't updated to the new version.

what happens to Firefox 2 when you download the new 3? does it over write it, or do you have to uninstall the old one?

As best as I can tell, it completely overwrites it. All of my bookmarks and (compatible) apps transferred over just fine.
