I like to tell people on the net I'm an artificial intelligence working on passing the Turing Test. When they tell me I've failed by telling them I am an artificial intelligence, I point out not so; do you actually believe me?

i find the whole concept of wanting a relationship with an artifical intelligence rather than a human being pitiful, sad, adolescent, selfish, and just plain uncool.

to be fair, could someone please give me another perspective?

Not all have access to C&F and the wit and wisdom that is inherent to it.

Perhaps some find that AI is more preferable than the available humans. :D

Look up some of the fiction posted on the forum by Jim Stone. The philosopher has given it some thought, some time. Maybe he will respond here

A lot of people (especially young males) prefer the comfort of video games or similar to conversing or interacting with humans.

There is also the possibility of hybrid computers, that are part living tissue, mostly circuits. This blurs the line, and makes the social questions that much harder.
