Black Friday

Post by Flyingcursor »

I hate that term.

Did anyone shop today? I went out at 5:00 AM just to buy a video game for someone. I could have gotten the video game any time since it wasn't even on sale but there's something magnificent about getting out with the crowd the day after Thanksgiving.

Not only that but I could have gotten the same game at Wally World but chose instead to go to "THE MALL". What a blast. For the most part everyone was jovial and there was a friendly air of competition but I heard there were some disturbances in other stores.

The local Circuit City had the police called in when some rudeness occured. At Wally World some people crashed the gate in front of people who'd been waiting for awhile. They should have had their genitals fried with cattle prods.

Most people who shop on BF do it, not just because of the sale prices, but because there's a fellowship amongst the bargain hunters.. It's those few who never learned any manners who create a bad reputation for all of us.

Any other BF shoppers here?

The only time I went out on BF was when I was up anyway, couldn't sleep due to some stuff going on and decided I might as well make the hour drive to Bristol and see what it was all about.

That was several years ago. I have not felt the need to repeat that shopping experience. I do remember that I got some really good deals though.

Good old Bristol. The real home of country music. How close do you live to where the Carters lived?

I'm a cook......therefore I do not partake in the shopping festivities(nor could I afford to). Instead, I make food for the starving masses of sheep desperate to feed from the trough of commercialism. I could get more political aboot it but it's the wrong forum. Sorry guys

You know, they have a museum now about the "Birthplace of Country Music."

I'm about 45 minutes from the Carter Fold.

I would only enter a mall on that day under duress. Duress occurred several years ago when I was transporting a vanload of girls to Queens for a post-Thanksgiving cross country meet, and our rest stop was at the Christiana Mall in Newark, Delaware. I think the girls managed to nab a slice of pizza, but it was all I could do to keep them together through the throng and get back to our car to continue the trip. Never again.

I had to work almost all day, but I went with a friend who was buying presents for a holiday. I bought candy to eat.

I love Black Friday, but obviously missed it this year. One year I went to Best Buy at 5 AM and got to see a brawl between some guy and the Best Buy mascot (a big price tag shape).

You go shopping at 5am? :boggle:

The only time I ever see 5am is if I'm still up drinking after a particuarly good night out :D
