Video software

Post by brianc »

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced (and yes, "free" is reasonable) video capture software?

I have a built-in video camera, but the software (Roxio) that was included with my computer isn't very good.

Thanks,

Hi Brian!

I'm not sure how you plan to use it and what features you are after, but for some easy and basic video or screen capturing the freeware Debut works fine.

I was not able to follow through on purchases, but for in-depth editing abilities I had previously narrowed my search to the following:
  • Sony's Vegas Movie Studio + DVD Platinum Edition HD video editing software
Adobe Premiere Pro Powerful Professional Editing Tools
These are pretty pricey, but had the features I wanted. Most of the software out there could only assemble pre-recorded files for burning onto disk, but had no real ability to edit down to the frame level. As in all things, you get what you pay for.

How about Microsoft MovieMaker, should be included with XP or Vista.
