Adieu to Euphonium

I sold my euphonium on Ebay a month or so ago.
Now I can't find a decent one I can afford. All the ones I'm finding are either new and thus far out of my price range, cheap crud brands that are far worse than the one I gave up, or crummy old used horns that are far overpriced.
So I continue, dazed in my euphoniumless state. Totally unacceptable.
It makes me sad.

Tom, I think you're going about it the wrong way. You are trying to land one by browsing the internet when, in fact, you need to contact music stores directly by telephone. Euphonium.

It's sort of like a tin whistle. Except much bigger. With valves, and a bell. And you buzz your lips into it.
It sounds like a lower pitched french horn; or like a cross between a french horn
and a tuba.
You know how there's nothing worse than a mushy, dry peach, because good peaches are SO good?
So the bad ones are that much more disappointing.
That's how my old horn was. So close to being magnificent and wonderful, but with some inherent flaws
in the intonation. The fact that it was so CLOSE to being wonderful drove me crazy. So I had to get rid of it.
Now, gotta find a new one that will live up to its promise.
I have contacted music stores directly--all two of them in Wyoming that carry euphoniums--and they don't have what I want. Maybe I should start contacting school districts to see if I can land a used student horn.

Bid on beautiful Sterling euph last night on ebay. Placed my bid 20 seconds from the end. Still got outbid by SEVEN HUNDRED
DOLLARS! It appears that several other people had the same idea as me, but wanted the thing even worse. Oh well, I hope they enjoy it.
The quest continues.
