I drink socially. . .meaning anywhere from two-four beers at a session or when hanging with friends. Once every few months or so I'll get a bottle of red wine and finish it over a few evenings, but that's pretty rare.

I really do thoroughly enjoy a good beer (Nothing that comes in a can). Wheat beer, followed by Sierra Nevada and good ales.

I also like white or red wine on the dry side - no Koolaid for me, thanks!

My consumption is down drastically from what it was in college. DOing some colossally stupid things while trashed, in addition to being married briefly to a non-recovering alcoholic, will do that to a person.

Interesting response. I don't really like the taste or smell of Brussels sprouts, but if somebody gave them to me I KNOW I still wouldn't eat them.

PS: The only way I would ever spend money on Brussels sprouts is if I was drunk -- which is not likely cause booze and pills don't generally agree with each other.

It's a cry that goes up in my area if someone uses a word we don't think actually exists, especially if it's one we like and are likely to use again. I like 'teetotalling' (as a word only of course). It can be used to turn drinking songs into non-drinking songs.

Here we come teetotalling among the leaves so green,
Here we come teetotalling so early to be seen....

What do you think I've been doing all day?
Boozing, bloody well boozing!
And how do you think I've been spending my pay?
Boozing, bloody well boozing!
Don't argue the point, 'cause you know I'm not right.
Don't tell me I'm wrong, 'cause you know I can't fight.
Where would you like me to take you tonight,
Boozing, bloody well boozing!

Boozing, boozing, when we are dry.
Boozing, boozing, suits you and I.
Some does it open, but more on the sly
But all of us likes to go boozing!

And what are the joys of a poor married man?
Boozing, bloody well boozing!
What is he doing whenever he can?
Boozing, bloody well boozing!
He comes home at night and he gives his wife all
He goes out a-shopping, makes many a call
But what brings him home hanging on to a wall?
Boozing, bloody well boozing!

Boozing, boozing, when we are dry.
Boozing, boozing, suits you and I.
Some does it open, but more on the sly
But all of us likes to go boozing!

And what does the Salvation Army shoot down?
Boozing, bloody well boozing!
And what are they preaching in every town?
Boozing, bloody well boozing!
The stand on street corners, they rave and they shout,
They shout about things they know nothing about.
But what are they doing when the lights have gone out?
Boozing, bloody well boozing!
What are the joys of the Jolly Jack Tar?
Boozing, bloody well boozing.

Boozing, boozing, when we are dry.
Boozing, boozing, suits you and I.
Some does it open, but more on the sly
But all of us likes to go boozing!

What are the joys of the bold sons of war?
Boozing, bloody well boozing.
And what makes England the land of the free
And if another French war were to be
Where would you find all the bold RIC?
Boozing, bloody well boozing.
:P

The local Pub is the centre of my social life (next to the allotments),so I visit everyday.
Workdays,I usually call in straight after work (there's a 'Happy Hour'),and have maybe three pints of Guinness or a 'Real Ale'-especially if there's a Stout or a Mild available.
Weekends and holidays,I'll indulge a bit more.
I can always tell myself that I'm helping to keep some of our independant craft brewers in business!
