Would you eat a food that tastes like Hummus?

Post by s1m0n »

Cuz they eat a TON of it round here--if you go into any grocery store, they all stock about 10 flavours and half a dozen brands of hummus.

I don't get it; even the flavoured hummi still taste like hummus.

Must be a wet-coast thing.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Mmmm, hummus. I don't like most of the flavored hummus, except the garlic flavored. Garlic
is, of course, an ingredient in hummus, and the store hummus usually doesn't use enough,
but the 'garlic flavor' is usually just right. Mostly, though, I make it at home. It only takes
a few minutes, and tastes much better.

The store-bought Guacamole is woefully under-garlicked, as well.

hummus is good... when it's good... kinda like brussel's sprouts. I love and hate them.

Garlic is hard to overdo, though my friends and family argue. :D

In Israel I loved the hummus with the little lake of olive oil floating in the middle of the glob of hummus on the plate. Hummus and pita and Macabees beer. What could be sweeter? I will answer my question, thank you. Falafel with tons of toppings is my first choice.

I don't know about this "hummus" of which you speak but one of my Aunts used to make a great dip out of chickpeas. Often with garlic and usually topped with paprika.

What is hummus? Isn't it something like moss or sod? Honestly, it's not something I'm familiar with.

Mushed-up chickpeas, tahini, and spices.
Usually eaten on/with pita bread (at least in my experience).

Here's a recipe:

I prefer to call them garbanzo beans, just because I like saying 'Garbanzo!'.

Hummus seem to be invading the roads around here. Every time I see one, particularly when I'm on my bike, I feel a strong urge to lob a grenade at it.

Maybe humour would be a better weapon against hummus. I've updated an old Australian joke (originally directed against Range Rovers).

Q. What is the difference between hummus and echidnas?

A. With hummus the pricks are on the _inside_.
