- Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Not being all that much of a jazz fan, I don't know of Shorter's work at all. But that was absolutely beautiful. Thank you Mr Rezinator!

Re: Wayne Shorter R.I.P.
I'm a huge Wayne Shorter fan and spent many hours trying to adapt some of his compositions to guitar. He was a consistently original and surprising musician.
Here's his classic ballad "Infant Eyes," a typically unique and tender approach to a sentimental song about a newborn child

It’s interesting that Wayne shorter could pack
any of the largest theaters here in the U.S.
but has filled stadiums in Japan. It the
among the saddest testaments about the U.S.

My pleasure Sir. Check these out.
Not Shorter’s tunes but the solos
are killer.

You've confused me ... Do you mean he couldn't pack a theatre in the US?oleorezinator wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 7:37 pm It’s interesting that Wayne shorter could pack

His theater & club appearances in the U.S. were always sold out.benhall.1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 1:32 amYou've confused me ... Do you mean he couldn't pack a theatre in the US?oleorezinator wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 7:37 pm It’s interesting that Wayne shorter could pack

He’d never be able to sell out a stadium in the U.S. because
of the disregard for what is America’s classical music; Jazz.
Jazz musicians always did much better in Europe and Japan.

- Tell us something.: I play Irish sessions. My instrument is a simple system flute; also various whistles in different keys.
Re: Wayne Shorter R.I.P.
I'm a new member on Chiff & Fipple. This seems like a good place to make my first post. I play Irish tunes on flute but my interests have always been more eclectic. Probably been appreciating Wayne Shorter since the early 70s. Hope you enjoy this recording because I do. Cheers, Auburn.

- Tell us something.: I'm a pro musician. I mainly perform on saxes/flutes/clarinets, but also play whistles and kavals from time to time. I've recently added Northumbrian Small Pipes to the collection too
Re: Wayne Shorter R.I.P.
As a pro jazz sax player and fledgling piper I'm always on the lookout for where jazz and trad music intersect. This is a sublime instance of this very phenomenon!
