thank you all :)
know that without your ongoing support through THREE YEARS (!!!) I simply would not have sat here anymore.
it still feels very strange to realise myself that in a few days, things are about to change.
OF COURSE I would have liked if they would have placed a new one right away but maybe its a good idea, to give my head a rest period.(and who knows what they will see when peeking inside...).
the most scary thing (although I am no fan of anesthesia because they really can do with you whatever they like ;) though will be the moment in february / march.....THAT day I really will need a hand that I can squeeze so hard to make the person who owns it want to jump through the roof......

but it feels good this time and I will leave my house with confidence.
and that, after all the crap that now will soon lie BEHIND me........new year, new start!
and hoooo boy, am I going to make up for the lost time.....

Oh, we are so delighted for you, Berti! What wonderful news. Keep us posted and we will be with all the rest of your friends on the board, holding your hand every step of the way.

What a wonderful Christmas present ... for you, of course, but for all of us. I love good news.

hiya!!
I had planned to update this topic sooner but that didn't work out.....but ok better late than never, right?
The surgery went well and the overall experience in the hospital, the docs, nurses, even the OR people, were all SO NICE and helpful!
SO that was very positive, and was much needed because on my way to OR was QUITE emotional...
The nice people and preheated blankies helped a lot...and the person doing anesthesia holding my hand.
I don't think have been off world for over two hours even, and was awake right away after it......
Today I came home.

What did they find at surgery: it looked allright according to doc but they DID find an infection, which they have now cleared/ cleaned up (right brain still is a bit mush after all the drugs...)

The wait is now for the next call, then they will place a complete new implant.
The latest news on the AB implants is that they are still on RECALL......red light, no surgeries etc.
Hopefully next month.

On the way home, suddenly it dawned to me (yeah really) WHAT actually is happening now.
That I am (for the most, not counting the wound) feeling better.
That the culprit is now OUT my skull.....

That I had visions on the way home that brought tears in my eyes because I actually "heard" music and saw my friends gathered and all was well....do I need to say more????

In your honor, I am leaving the house right now to pick up the Chinese Take Out to celebrate tonight. Popsicles for dessert. Wishing you the best.

Yep, it's really great when they take the alien radio out of your head. Ooops, did I just say that out loud?

thank you mute!! could do with that. got an infection AND inflammation so am now on antibiotics AND anti inflammatory drugs.
now if those would really lift the spirits, I would not mind... ;)
slowly starting to feel somewhat better today....lets hope it continues.

monday taking stitches out and discuss.
rumours have it , that AB will SOON give green light again for implanting, as the problems for the recall don't seem to be as serious as they thought.
but I am still waiting to hear confirmation about that one, from the source itself.

stay tooned!!

I hope the infection clears up quickly, Berti, and that you can enjoy a happy and hopeful Christmas. Things are really looking up at last. We are both so pleased for you. As Alan said, may the music in your head soon be a reality.

hi friends,

thought you all would love to know that I am doing GREAT, 5 weeks after surgery.
most symptoms are GONE and so are the painkillers.....this was the first week without!
have got an hearing aid for the other ear now so that at least I have got some sound, and having lots of fun playing flute and just enjoying all the days.
the so VERY bearable lightness of being...........enuff said.

AB people have let me know that the problems with the worldwide recall of the implants seem not to be as bad as they thought, and hope to resume delivery "very soon".
SO the wait is now for the next surgery date but what a wait it is........some nights I barely sleep because I am boincing with energy....how's THAT for a difference with last december!!!

without you all and your ongoing support, I could not have made it.
THANK YOU for being my friends!!!
stay tooned, more to come......... :D :D
