In College (Engineering School) we took the courses Statics and Dynamics, the former studying bridges, buildings, stress and strain on stationary objects, and the latter being objects in motion. A year or two after I graduated they dropped the Dynamics requirement for all undergraduates in the interest of dumbing down the curriculum. The joke spread to other Engineering Schools that XYZ College teaches its engineering students how things stay put, but not how they move. A little embarrassing.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

After conferring with my fellow mods, I've decided to lovingly move this to the Pub where others can enjoy it, too. :)

Ah. Now I see it. Truthfully, I had no idea as I hadn't read the 2nd page, but we'll give him the credit. Takes the onus off of me. :D

He's drunk with new-found power. Just wait till he gets accussed of being a right-wing old boy....

Sigh. I checked out this thread, thinking it new and saw Zub's name. Though we crossed swords on occasion, I got a bit excited thinking he had come back...He always had an interesting item to add to the general wisecrackery.
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

Fortunately for me I've got Surdyk's Liquors to bail me out on that one. A most international selection.

I admit, that was the point at which I looked at the date, as well.

And I. It's an old enough thread it hadn't made the transfer from the Whistle board to the so-called Pub.

But an ounce of gold weighs more than an ounce of feathers.

(Hoping jim doesn’t find any grammatical errors in my post even though I had a 6.0 GPA* in college.)

Why are there commas after "pound?" :-?

My guess is that it is a subtle way of emphasizing that it's two different kinds of pound being compared.
