Yep, I'd go with that. Cats are crazy, but they are so totally brilliant that they have earned the right to be as crazy as they like...

Our cat is not only crazy, but she is also legendary. Behold Morwenna, the legendary, mighty, giant tabby of Kings Walden...

Surely mice are too small for her. Does she catch elephants instead?

Dale-- she's just messin' with yer mind... Our guys do that all the time!

I'd watch her carefully for another week or two and if she doesn't get better, a trip to the vet is a good idea.

You might try luring her down to the floor in stages with special treats placed on increasingly low furniture.

Our elderly cat started acting crazy too.

First, we saw that her claws had somehow grown so long they were curling back up and poking into the pads of her feet! I guess she wasn't able to use the cat scratcher effectively anymore. We took care of that promptly. Then we started to notice that she didn't see or hear well (if at all) anymore. So we attributed most of her odd behaviour to that. (Behaviour that sounds suspiciously like the Undisputed Cat's)

Desi declined pretty quickly after that. Her passing was sad for all of us.

I received an email a while back warning about not using one of the new floor mops. Maybe Clorox Redi Mop or Swiffer Jet Mops. I don't remember which one it was or if it was one of these but one of the ingredients was a danger to pets. Something about kidney or liver failure. Its been a while since I received this notice and I never checked it out to see if it was a hoax or for real.

Take your baby to the Vet O'undisputed One just to be sure!

Cheers,
Kathy :)

At 11 years of age, your cat is also undergoing physiological changes which may affect her behavior and over all health. I agree with the general consensus here, bring her in to be examined by a vet. Better safe than sorry.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

My wife is a veterinarian--really--and she said this:

"Maybe the cat's been watching too much TV and is practicing for the floods."

My wife never used to be a smartass until she married me.

But seriously, she had no real explanation. If you presented the cat to her at her clinic and gave her money to tell you something, the best she could do is suggest that perhaps the cat suffered some sort of trauma while on the floor. Which she admits is very unlikely.

As for ghosts, I was only half kidding. A friend of mine moved into a new house and there was a place in the hallway the dog not would go near. After much asking around he discovered that someone had died on that spot.

That's sort of creepy, but I believe it.

I'm sure we've all heard (or heard of) dogs howling/crying when their owner dies. Animals have much sharper senses (and probably different senses) than do we humans.

One of my kitties did much this same thing when she was declining with feline leukemia virus. She was cold, so she looked for warm places . . . the higher up the better. You couldn't get her to stay on the floor.

I have heard reports of cats developing paw-pad irritation from Dupont Stainmaster carpet after it has been shampooed, leading to a reluctance to walk on it and paw-shaking.

Take the Undisputed Puss to the vet.

Would you believe that I got it ALL done for the weekend? :)

I probably wouldn't even believe it myself, but it's true...

Go to a good vet who specializes in cats if possible. Then get a full geriatric work up. Blood work can often uncover the problem. You've got to rule out physical illness before working from the behavioral/mental angle.

My first thought when reading your post was that this cat may be cold because the floor would be much cooler than anywhere else.
