help identify this pop song

Post by Eldarion »

I've been having this earworm for quite a while now and I just can't identify the song title, I've tried some online melody identifiers but nothing seems to come up.

The refrain goes like this:

It repeats itself several times before the end. Its an 80s pop ballad (closer to a power ballad than one of those "Sometimes When We Touch" sorta love ballad) and is not that obscure.

That's a toughy...
The notes you're plinking out don't especially match either of these, but the 2 songs that popped into my head are:

Sweet Dreams, by the Eurythmics
Don't You Want Me, by Human League

Hmm. Kinda brings to mind "Danger Zone" for me.

I listened. I didn't know. Maybe if you gave us some more clues like what genre of music this might be (folk, rock, country) and what instrument would be playing those notes (guitar, keyboard, moog synthesizer, a high pitched lady)

Sorry, when I download the midi and listen without reverb, it doesn't sound like anything at all. Just a bunch of random notes. Can you give us a better sample clip?

Its better if you can play the tune using the flash "play" sign on the website cos like you said the midi when downloaded sounds like random blips.

This is an 80s easy listening pop ballad, with doubled male vocals on the first and last phrase, while the lower phrase in the middle is a drum/bass/keyboards fill. I suspect this song is credited to a music group and not a frontman vocalist. Reminds me of Hall and Oates but I'm not sure its them..

A little more help, then. What sort of meter is it supposed to be? Can't quite catch that, or the downbeat.

Try this, I've written it out in notation (there's a wav playback function too that sounds more normal)

The treble parts are sung, the bass parts are an instrumental filler.
