So nothing to do with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) then?

Tell us something.: I love Emer Mayock, Matt Molloy, Jean Michel Veillon and Michael McGoldrick playing. My favourite flute makers are Hammy Hamilton and Solen Lesouef

Thank you all for the suggestions!

I will collect these and put these aside for, uh, inspiration :P

You need to dumb it down. We're talking "Smoke on the Water" type stuff here.

There is a very cool repeating bassline in one of Mike Oldfield's things. (Not the theme from the Exorcist.) Might be Tubular Bells. I can't seem to find it.

One he likes now is Linkin Park "The End" because it's got an endlessly repeated, what you call it, not obligato but there's a special term, arrgh!! Memory not working today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP-bAlOJzWc

Anyway, this repeated part is on the piano, but he likes to play it on the bass. There's only a couple of places where you switch over to straight bass under the chord. Great bang for your buck.
