Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is not a live show.
It could easily be that the editors are the only ones
culpable of looksism (and if so, the greater charge of
rabble-rousing). The appalled looks could easily have
been from another act, which was actually talentless
and deserving of eye rollary.

Speaking of which, is the production always this bad
for these shows? I want to see and hear the act, not
the audience. And who are the prats yelling backstage?

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Quite right. I will bear this in mind. But somehow I don't think it's the case. Call me credulous.

I watched too many David Copperfield specials...

Tragic, indeed.

Gave the judges the benefit of the doubt and watched the questioning it with the sound off, and then of Flawless, and then again with the sound. Definitely a difference in demeanor. I don't think it was time shift edited or anything else to make appearances different.

Actually, I'm with fearfaoin on this one. It is almost a given that the editors of such "reality" shows (from Survivor on...) splice facial reactions
into scenes in such a way as to maximize whatever dramatic effect they're attempting to concoct.

Hi there,

Somehow I don't quite see those edits happening in this instance, It certainly isn't a given by any streeeetch of the `imagination`
I suppose the evidence supporting this unlikely concept would be for those featured to raise an objection in some way which the media would perhaps pounce on... which more than likely would have happened by now given the current interest and circulation.

I didn't say it's a given, I'm just saying
there's reasonable doubt.

Meh. I doubt you'd remember every
facial expression you made during
several hours of taping.

No, that was me. I said it was a given that editors would edit for maximum drama. This does not rule out the possibility that they caught expressions that suited their purposes at the right time, but it's also possible that they "re-organized."

A big portion of the "wonderfulness" is the song, not necessarily the singer.

I'm sure Susan Boyle is a wonderful singer, but we can't forget about the song.

Is it possible to go from complete obscurity to overexposed in about 4 days? Yes.

She's on tv singing "My Heart Will Go On" to Larry King a capella and via satellite.

I wasn't impressed with either the song or the singing.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')
