Modern Art: fun trees exersize

Post by john_t »

I have devised a modern art lesson called 'Fun trees!' Let me know what you think. :)

Fun trees!
There were three big trees. Each tree had three main branches, with five sub branches on each main branch.
They were placed in a triangle.
The trees were labelled x, y, and z. The tree x was a third larger than y, and two thirds larger than z.
On each of the trees the main branches were called 1, 2, and 3. The main branch 1 was a third larger than 2, and two thirds larger than 3.
On each of the main branches the five sub branches were called A, B, C, D, and E. The sub branch A was a fifth larger than B, two fifths larger than C, three fifths larger than D and four fifths larger than E.
Strings connected the trees. For example. See the brackets below.
(a piece of string called x1A,z3E which connected the largest sub branch on the largest main branch on the largest tree to the smallest sub branch of the smallest main branch on the smallest tree.)
x1A,x1A was a loop. All the sub branches have loops attached. The following are strings attached to the trees:

Code: Select all

x1A,x1B	x1A,x1C	x1A,x1D	x1A,x1E	x1A,x2A
x1A,x2B	x1A,x2C	x1A.x2D	x1A,x2E	x1A,x3A
x1A,x3B	x1A,x3C	x1A,x3D	x1A,x3E	x1A,x4A
x1A,x4B	x1A,x4C	x1A,x4D	x1A,x4E	x1A,x5A
x1A,x5B	x1A,x5C	x1A,x5D	x1A,x5E	x1A,y1A
x1A,y1B	x1A,y1C	x1A,y1D	x1A,y1E	x1A,y2A
x1A,y2B	x1A,y2C	x1A,y2D	x1A,y2E	x1A,y3A
x1A,y3B	x1A,y3C	x1A,y3D	x1A,y3E	x1A,y4A
x1A,y4B	x1A,y4C	x1A,y4D	x1A,y4E	x1A,y5A
x1A,y5B	x1A,y5C	x1A,y5D	x1A,y5E	x1A,z1A
x1A,z1B	x1A,z1C	x1A,z1D	x1A,z1E	x1A,z2A
x1A,z2B	x1A,z2C	x1A,z2D	x1A,z2E	x1A,z3A
x1A,z3B	x1A,z3C	x1A,z3D	x1A,z3E	x1A,z4A
x1A,z4B	x1A,z4C	x1A,z4D	x1A,z4E	x1A,z5A
x1A,z5B	x1A,z5C	x1A,z5D	x1A,z5E	x2A,x1B...
Imagine I had continued the table right down to z3D,z3E (or whatever the conclusion of the pattern is)
Now draw the trees, loops and the strings...

Slan,

And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.
