Denny: Thanks for that picture, but there's just something about going out on a clear night with a telescope, freezing your buns off, and seeing the wind make the images in your scope boil like an overheated tea kettle, just to see it for yourself.

Neither. It's because Saturn is approaching at a high velocity. Doppler shift causes the rings to appear compressed.
