Órlaith McAuliffe demonstrating a Killarney Whistle (Facebook video) - very impressive - both her playing (no surprise there!) and the whistle's tone and obvious responsiveness. They look nice too - no nasty metal beak in your mouth!

The first impression is that of a faux Sindt head on a Feadóg tube but I don't really mind that. It sounds lovely in the clips and is really the first new whistle in a decade that gives me a tickle of wanting it. Worth a try, I'll get back when it arrives.

For the avoidance of misunderstanding, I have no connection with these and have not myself met/tried one yet - but if Órlaith says they're good, I trust her assessment!

Likewise tempted to give it a go and, having just sold my three original Overtons, decided I could afford to order before the whole of C&F jumps in!

Have previously tried a Sindt and thought I'd be quite happy to have one alongside (not instead of!) my Bracker if I could get one for a similar price, so (noting the obvious Sindt/Thornton likenesses) could be an interesting experiment. Think it's sounding at a better pitch in Órlaith's clip than Padraig Buckley's own (sharp), but not too concerned about that when the discrepancy could just as easily be video/tech-related as real life and it's clearly working for all of them!

That whistle sounds very nice indeed, with a healthy amount of chirp and "pop" and a nice roundness to the tone.

And BTW, the tune is "Bonnie Kate".

Indeed, then again, in Orlaiths case it was quite expected I enjoyed the other clips at the makers website as well though.

You posted the link to the website didn't you? I usually don't follow facebook links as they, more often than not, require me to sign up before they show me anything. So I watched the clips on the website, which are usually more telling than anything posted elsewhere and Pat Buckley playing the Skylark and the youngfella playing Trim the Velvet did it for me.
