Post by BoneQuint »

I haven't visited in a mouse's age, but I just saw this and thought it was too interesting not to share, so I shall:

Toy Flute, 1920s (?)
This flute is French, marked "Hercule Paris" and was made of Celluloid in the first decades of the 20th century. It is 28 cm long.Image
Here's another thread about a pewter "Hercule" whistle:

Hercule Paris? sorry, never heard of him. Are you sure its not actually Hercule Poirot?
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

I used to have one almost identical but without the incised decoration, branded "Atlas, Paris". One of the black rings had fallen off, but it had the same odd raised fingerholes. The best D whistle I've ever played. I had it stolen when I was robbed in Dublin. I've seen the "Hercule" branded ones for sale on EBay.
