Do I get a vote????

I think the Permali beads are classy! I like the look a lot. Elegant, but a little extra oomph in the styling. Next would have to be the HF look.

I'm with Tyg (nice to see you, BTW)-- what's a whistle without just a LITTLE wood, after all? :D

Beautiful work as usual Walt.

Hi

Another challence for Ballyshannon and Photoshop?

Of the ones displayed, I would go for the all black, but I do like the idea of a little silver trim. The two to the right, with the Permali bodies and black heads just look to me like someone assembled the wrong parts.

However, if I were to buy a Sweetheart whistle, it would be to to satisfy my lust for a wooden (or wood finish) whistle, so I would probably not buy any of these. I find I can make perfectly good plastic whistles myself, so if (when) I buy another whistle, it would be metal or wood, and so far I don't own a wood whistle.

I voted for all black but black with white/ivory trim was a very close second; I'd probably have see the whistle in person to make the call between those two.

Edited to add: Are the rings all that hard to make? Perhaps you could offer different color beads as an option. Henry Ford did that (eventually).
The Walrus

What would a wild walrus whistle if a walrus could whistle wild?

The second mouse may get the cheese but the presentation leaves a lot to be desired.

all black please!

My vote is for all black! I have one of these whistles in permali and love it dearly, but I've always been a fan of the blackwood "look". It's the bagpiper in me.

Here ya go...silver AND gold ring variations. Personally, the less decorative stuff on a whistle the better.

Couldn't resist adding the Ford logo. :D

I like number 2 with the little rings of wood. Makes it stand out from the crowd of black ones that are out there. Seems most have a completely black one.

My favourites are number two from the left in silver and gold. I don't like the trim on the fipple so much.

Whether silver, gold, or wood, I think the rings would look best "understated", not thick or sticking out like an after-thought add-on, but more low profile and integrated into the contours of the design. As a designer, to me there's a huge difference between adding something on for the sake of adding something on...and creating an integrated work of art.

I voted black w/permali rings but truthfully I agree with the other poster who said that it's the wood that makes a Swetheart special.
That said, if the sweets were to release a low D resonance Model in Black plastic with a less expensive price, that familiar twitching and salivating for a new whistle make "afflict" me again. :)
