Post by pipersgrip »

Going to see Joanie and Cherish The Ladies on Saturday in Orlando, can't wait to see them. Anybody ever been to one of their shows?

Yes, they are great entertainers and musicians. Great cross between ITM and current Irish music.
Cheers:)

I've only been to a 3 piece show and it was still amazing!

You'll have a ball.
Hang out a bit afterwards. They usually have CDs for sale and the Ladies generally come out to chat with the fans and sign the CDs. Unlike prima donna rock stars, the Ladies are very fan-friendly.

Oh I thought this thread was going to be about the tune!!
It's a great tune on the whistle, one of my favourites to play.

I'm catching them on the 4th of March at Wolf Trap. I like the Bob Carr Auditorium though. the acoustics there are fantastic. I saw my first show there in 1978 or 79.

OBLIGATORY POST!

Yes, I have. 6 times.

Ditto what Paul said about them being fan-friendly. I could honestly say I'd take a bullet for any of them (a whole truckload of 'em for Mary C.).

(Hint: At the meet-and-greet, go to the BACK of the line.)

Just got back from the concert, and all I can say is WOW!!!! That was probably the best concert that I ever went to. Joanie was so nice and funny, she had me laughing like crazy with the stuff she was saying. Her and that band, and the orchestra were all awesome, I loved it. I got to meet Joanie, and she was just the nicest person. I think I was too dressed down though  , I was in my jeans and my Guinness shirt, and my Guinness hat, while everybody else had nice suits on.

I went to the matinee. Don't feel bad Whistle Collector, my husband was in shorts and a golf shirt - he was underdressed too. I didn't know there would be an entire orchestra. Nice surprise and I was moved to tears in their Far and Away bit. The show really was great. Joannie was funny and the Irish dancers were wonderful. One guy plays the fiddle and tapdances. It's was phenomenal. The Ladies did 2 extra tunes for us after they received a standing ovation, including Danny Boy. I also really enjoyed "Bonkers in Yonkers" from her new album. Joannie said she would definitely be back to Orlando (for those of you who missed it). We didn't get to meet them afterwards unfortunately as we had to get back to my Dad, the babysitter, but I'm not complaining. Was great to have seen them at all. Very nice concert. :D

Yea, that Canadian fiddler/dancer was awesome! I almost cried at Danny Boy. I will definitely go again whenever she comes back.

Tell us something.: I love Irish music and I love to play the whistle! I met Dale and now he is the main man of whistlers. I can't wait to get back on the road again as this coronavirus is the worst!
