Just for fun - what does YOUR avatar mean?

Post by nikiarrowsmith »

Hi! I peruse this board all the time and I love how everyone's avatar becomes very recognizable after seeing it a hundred times. Pretty much every regular is easily identifiable by just looking at their avatar. So...what does yours mean?
Mine, just recently updated, is part of the Sri Lankan flag because that's where I'm from.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I truly believe that my ancestors lived in trees. (They may even have favored blackwoods).

Mine is a pic of a street kid leaning against a boat. I don't know that it says much about me other than that I don't want him or any others to feel marginalized.

Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

My avatar reflects two of my interests: Music (Low Whistles a lot) and Leopard Geckos. Well, I do need to change it, possibly, because I no longer raise geckos (wife got too frustrated with the insects to feed them) although I still am interested in them. I now raise orchids and she likes that a LOT better. :)

Mine is just a photo of a nearby waterfront. I'm not even sure it conveys the same image in a thumbnail, could be people viewing my avatar are wondering, what the heck is that?

But it is one of my favorite places to hang out.
Every time I turn around, I wonder where I've been.
Time to stop turning round, I guess.

He's Casper, (possibly) a husky-border collie cross in all his beautiful blue-eyed glory.

Now staring balefully at me from across the room, because I suck and I'm being boring.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

That's an African pygmy hedgehog -- partly rolled up with just the face showing. Make good little pets when your family members are allergic to dogs and cats. My life revolved around one of these when I first joined C&F and I have been too lazy to change it.

This is a more normal view:

Mine is a device of Elven heraldry that I invented myself in the style of the ones Tolkien did for the various kings and Houses of elves in his mythology (ala The Silmarillion). Link

The colours and orientation of the elements have significance but I won't bore you with the details...
