Carbony whistle tour

Post by robgandara »

My last booth of the season is this Saturday in Dunedin Florida, and after that I am moving my shop so I would like to give what ever inventory I have a chance to see the world. On Monday, Nov 12th I will send my whistles on tour. If you are interested in trying a carbon fiber whistle please send me an email to rob.gandara@gmail.com with your address. Any whistle on tour is available for purchase. All I ask is that you give feedback public or private.

Two whistles available:

High D with plastic mouthpiece

Low D with anodized alum mouthpiece

to read about my technology see www.pipemakersunion.com

you guys are great!

Hi Rob!

Interesting web site, and best of luck with your Carbony instruments.

Now, if you only could find a good formula for a synthetic UP chanter reed that sings like cane
I would think you should qualify for a Polar Music award nomination.

Cheers!

I just sent an email and realized I may well be too late. Am I?
:sniffle:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I've had one of the high D whistles since Tuesday, but have had little time to play it. I did take it to the session Tuesday evening and several others tried it. I think the carbon body is really cool. The grain of the carbon cloth would be really cool on the outside. But it would suck sanding the inside eh?

It plays well, and it sounds good. I liked it better hearing others play it than when I was playing it. And it's not the skill level (were you thinking that?) Just like your voice I guess. Do you remember the first time you heard your recorded voice played back? Maybe it's the same thing going on.

Rob, let me know who to send it to next.

Cheers,

Carey

carbon cloth outer

Post by robgandara »

Carey,

The carbon Cloth is as easy to lay up on the outer layer as it is the inner layer. The unidirectional outer was simulating an ebony grain but I have built cloth outer whistles as well. The are more popular with younger players so I sell more of them at festivals. If you want to try one I can build one with your name on it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Mail the Whistle to Ranica as per the list and may the force be strong in you,

Having worked in the race industry the carbon cloth looks like IndyCar tubs to me. The pattern says "carbon fiber" which has good conotations in my case. I can see how others might think it odd.

I might make a head from my Every whistle to try on it this weekend, so I'll get it sent off on Monday. I'll put the list of names in the tube so others will have it handy.

Cheers,

Carey
