my new olive wood whistles by Tommy

Post by blackhawk »

I got some new whistles recently from Tommy, who posts here regularly. He's been making whistles for a while now, but hasn't gone full time in it as far as I know. Last year he sent out, on tour, five whistles in five different woods and I was impressed. I got some olive wood and made a deal with him to make whistles for me in D and C. Here are some pictures of them, some taken with flash and some without (to explain the differences you'll see in the lighting):

Cool! What happens if you blow into the fipples?

Olivewood is glorious stuff. Do yours still have that olive aroma in the wood? When I machine olivewood, the smell is almost intoxicating.

Tell us something.: I caught the trad bug listening to Liam O'Flynn. Started on whistle, then moved to pipes. Tricky Basmatis, but I love 'em.

I hope it's not... :(

Just kidding Tommy-- I hope you do well with these. They look beautiful.
I see you're working on a C: with the same ID and OD, you can also make Eb. Pushing any higher or lower would not work out too well though.
