Flook
So a friend gave me a gift card to Best Buy and I was just about to buy Feadoga Stain 2 when my wife came along. ITM isn't her favorite, but she listens to it to make me happy. I was sampling different CDs and happened to listen to a sample of Flook. My wife seemed to like them so, although I was looking for something more Trad, I ordered Rubai, flooks 2nd album.
Man, these guys are amazing. Not exactly trad, but their music pulses with Irish rythm and energy. And the bodhran player...crazy good. Rubai is full of romping excitement and also some more thoughtful tunes. Mr. Finnigan daily inspires me and encourages me in my own humble whistling. This is a truly great album.

Indeed, Flook is just fantastic. I ordered my tickets today to see them here on March 2nd. Here's their tour dates http://www.flook.co.uk/tourdates.html . I can't wait to see them!
Brian Finnegan's solo CD "When The Party's Over" is great too.

I've seen Flook live, and I believe I just stood there for the entire time with my mouth hanging open in awe. My brother in law did the same. Incredible.

i've have seen them several times, especially looking forward to seeing them with McGoldrick, as per their web-page

"We're cutting back a bit on touring at the start of this year, as we are delighted to announce that Sarah is expecting a baby in February. The March tour of USA is, however, going ahead as planned, but with former band member and good friend, Michael McGoldrick stepping in to cover Sarah's maternity leave."
Happy to see Sarah in the family way, she wrote one of my favorite flute tunes, Quiet Autumn i wish her a happy joyous spring.

Rubai has one of the most beautiful slow tunes I know. Rosbeg. That tune alone is worthwhile buying the album.DreamOgreen wrote:Yeah I like Flook too. I have their "haven" album and play it alot but I notice their are really no slow tunes at all. Does the "Rubai" album or any of their others have some tunes that are not high speed so to speak?
