Uilleann Vs. Whistle Fingering

I've been pretty much sticking to the Uilleann forum here....waiting on my set, but trying not to neglect my Walton's tin whistle too much. Can anyone tell me the proper way to finger a whistle? I know the Uilleann chanter should be fingered between the 1st and 2nd knuckles....is this the same with the tin whistle? Or is it the pads of your fingers when on the whistle? Help for the newbie here appreciated.....

Pads work for a high D or C. But it doesn't matter much, try it out.
