Songbird low D question

Post by lichatt »

Hello,

I've read somewhere that it's not a good idea to remove the mouthpiece.
But it's more difficult to clean and fit the whistle in my case without take it apart.
Is it true or i just have to take care of the tuning slide grease?

All the best,
Patrick.

What do you mean? You can't remove the "mouthpiece", can you? Do you mean taking the whistle in two parts at the slide joint? I don't think that would be any problem. I know Phil says that they shouldn't be apart, but then again, he never seem to clean his whistles.

My understanding is that Kerry tunable whistles SHOULD NOT be pulled apart, rather unscrewed.

Best advice is write to Phil directly. He is great with getting back to customers.

Look at the Gealic Crossings whistle forum, subject ''Chieftain Tenor E & Eb Bodies".

I thought screwing whilst pulling was a common procedure that applies to all tuneable whistles. At least that is how I do it with all of my tuneable whistles.
