Busman #1 unearthed

Post by Dave Parkhurst »

About a year ago, I purchased a plumwood Busman from Tony Higgins, after drooling all over it at the last ChiffFest West Coast. Great whistle with a bell note to die for and decent purity of tone also. I sent an email to Paul Busman asking if he might be willing to look it over for me, since the finish had suffered a bit with time and use. I recently got up my nerve and mailed my baby off to Paul. He emailed me after it arrived and informed me that I own the first Busman sold on the market....how cool is that? Paul is in the process of giving it an overhaul and engraving many profound things on it to mark the occasion.

As a maker, there is some nostalgia in seeing one's early work, and as an owner, it's a neat experience to accidentally come across such a find. Eat your heart out, Tony.... it's gonna stay mine!

I now have Busman envy.

I simply love the three Busmans I have and eagerly wait for yet another masterpiece of the Busman art in Eb - maple of course.

Maybe I'll have the first Busman in Eb in maple. Maybe that will make me feel better......

Ccongradulations on your number 1. That is significant.

Never - Never let it go - except to me.

Boy, I sure hope I have the first Busman green delrin? Should I ask Paul for an official "Little Green Man" certificate? :D

I would, Loren! I have a feeling that although I used to secretly hope to be Glenn's successor in whistledom, Paul is occupying that space and doing a good job.
