Well, it's not very obviously a pistol case. I carry it around campus and don't get any looks. It actually sort of looks like a professional camera-equipment case or something. There really is a large variety of pistol cases out there, and if you look you can find a nice-looking, hard side case for a good price. I think I paid $50 for mine. One thing: they won't fit a low D or anything that big, but I don't really play low whistles, so I don't care.PhiloStraw wrote:I would recommend you don't take your whistles as carry-on luggage any time soon.Congratulations wrote:Pistol case.
Actually, from the outside, my pistol case looks rather like the case fearfaoin made out of that CD carrier, just a little bigger. Go fig.
All together, one of the most worthwhile purchases I've made in the whistle word (other than the whistles themselves, of course ).
oh Lana Turner we love you get up

I went to home depot... bought a 10 foot lenght of pvc pipe (1.32$) and had them chop it up into foot long sections. I then bought the little plastic end caps that fit over the pipe. For less than 3.00$ I now have 6 or 7 perfect sized and almost indestructable whistle cases. Drill a small hole in the end of one of the end caps and the moisture can get out. Drill another couple holes farther up and you can rig a shoulder strap... Would also work well for the larger whistles... and you can put the whistle in a sock first if it needs more protecting. it works for me

My low and bass whistles each have the bag they came in, and I put those into a folding lawn chair bag without the chair. Has a sholder strap and draw string top.

i bought a summer jacket the year before i started playing. it has a zipper breast pocket that safely and comfortably holds whistles and a zipper side pocket for my assortment of harmonicas. the coat is so lightweight and comfortable, i could wear it forever. i am just waiting for some radio dj to tell me, "i'll give you $100 for every musical instrument you may have on you." that would be a rocking $700. i'd even let him keep them all for that much. this is a great coat to smuggle candy and food into theatres.
Rose tint my world. Keep me safe from my trouble and pain.

I bought a drumstick bag and my mother sewed up each pocket so there were two. It holds all of the whistles I can bring to session except the low G and D, which are too big for it. I stuff the drumstick bag into my bodhran bag for session. And before anyone asks, yes, the bodhran is in there too!

I have a roll up bag my wife made from upholstery fabric. It holds 9 whistles size C and up. I keep my essential whistles in it. I also have a brief case that holds the bag, an Olwell G flute, a Dixon G whistle and a notebook with music sheets. It serves my purpose.

I've never met a whistle I didn't want.
