I would recommend you don't take your whistles as carry-on luggage any time soon. :boggle:

I hand made a case out of some old cloth and some old pillow stuffing, it looks rough but does the job OK :)

Well, it's not very obviously a pistol case. I carry it around campus and don't get any looks. It actually sort of looks like a professional camera-equipment case or something. There really is a large variety of pistol cases out there, and if you look you can find a nice-looking, hard side case for a good price. I think I paid $50 for mine. One thing: they won't fit a low D or anything that big, but I don't really play low whistles, so I don't care.

Actually, from the outside, my pistol case looks rather like the case fearfaoin made out of that CD carrier, just a little bigger. Go fig.

All together, one of the most worthwhile purchases I've made in the whistle word (other than the whistles themselves, of course :) ).

I went to home depot... bought a 10 foot lenght of pvc pipe (1.32$) and had them chop it up into foot long sections. I then bought the little plastic end caps that fit over the pipe. For less than 3.00$ I now have 6 or 7 perfect sized and almost indestructable whistle cases. Drill a small hole in the end of one of the end caps and the moisture can get out. Drill another couple holes farther up and you can rig a shoulder strap... Would also work well for the larger whistles... and you can put the whistle in a sock first if it needs more protecting. it works for me

My low and bass whistles each have the bag they came in, and I put those into a folding lawn chair bag without the chair. Has a sholder strap and draw string top. :)

i bought a summer jacket the year before i started playing. it has a zipper breast pocket that safely and comfortably holds whistles and a zipper side pocket for my assortment of harmonicas. the coat is so lightweight and comfortable, i could wear it forever. i am just waiting for some radio dj to tell me, "i'll give you $100 for every musical instrument you may have on you." that would be a rocking $700. i'd even let him keep them all for that much. this is a great coat to smuggle candy and food into theatres.

I bought a drumstick bag and my mother sewed up each pocket so there were two. It holds all of the whistles I can bring to session except the low G and D, which are too big for it. I stuff the drumstick bag into my bodhran bag for session. And before anyone asks, yes, the bodhran is in there too!

I have a roll up bag my wife made from upholstery fabric. It holds 9 whistles size C and up. I keep my essential whistles in it. I also have a brief case that holds the bag, an Olwell G flute, a Dixon G whistle and a notebook with music sheets. It serves my purpose.

I've never met a whistle I didn't want.

I was sewing a new bag for spring when I ordered my first two whistles, so I made a special pocket for them in the bag. I still would like to make separate cases for them since I don't always carry the same bag.

I use a Sherpa: He never gets tired, never needs supplemental oxygen, he's laughs at what passes for bad weather here in New England, and he makes a mean Butter Tea.
