Busman D+ back on US tour...
Wanderer sent my back the US tour D+ whistle for some repairs. The Delrin/brass bond gave way on the head and needed to be redone. I've done some experimenting and I think I've got it LOTS more secure now. So, with any luck, I'll send the whistle on it's way again tomorrow.
Here's the US and Canada list:

BTW-- if anyone with one of my Delrin whistles has had any problems with the metal fittings, PLEASE let me know.
Note-- I had been trying to keep all of the US tour members together, with the Canadians at the end to eliminate lots of cross border shipping. However, every once in a while I get another request to join the tour and in order to keep the Canadian whistlers from having to wait forever I'm simply adding new names at the end of the list, wherever they live.

Tour
I got the whistle in the mail today and it plays beautifully. So far I have some first impressions, and they are mostly positive. I have to say, compared to my collection of whistles (I have a Chieftain and Abell, among others) it ranks high so far. Once I have a better feel of it, and a chance to play with the low C, I will post a little review of my findings. I will keep it for a week or two and then send it on, but I am leaning toward two weeks since I like it so far. This week I will take it to a session and play it with my two bands. If it fits my needs, I will play it at a couple gigs this Saturday. It's a wonderful instrument! Thanks Paul.

Hello - I've been a little remiss. I should have posted that I recieved the whistle safe and "sound".
I've had it about a week.
REAL beaut!
Excellent workmanship, Paul.
Can't quite get the hang of the low C hole, but otherwise a very nice piece.
Lower octave excellent, upper a little difficult for me to control, and I sometimes overblow to try and bring it into line (I'm sure it's more me and not the whistle).
LOUD! Would be superb for sessions.
Oustanding for AIRES.
Thanks for the test blow, will be in the mail to Ronkiley within days.

Important Info
So here is the deal. I think that now I can be taken off of the list. A few days ago, I took a trip to the flea market. I bumped into a vendor who was selling all sorts of knick-knacks. Anywho, I couldn't help but notice a whistle sticking out of his shirt pocket. Wouldn't you have it? It was an acetal Busman. Well we began to talk, and he told me that he was probably the fourth owner, and got it for $95!!! What a steal!!! And he let me play the whistle [he cleaned the mouthpiece before and after, of course). It is definitely a fine whistle. It was a D, and played so smoothly. Reminded me of my Dixon in terms of playability, but a much fuller, richer, bodler sound. Glad to have had that opportunity. So, having played a Busman, and having liked it, I think I can now bow out of the mailing list. Now Annie and others can get it a few weeks earlier. Clap clap to Paul...he does some fine work.

I think he just got to try it there... it doesn't sound like the guy was offering it for sale... I'm sure your work is too good for the fleamarket market!brewerpaul wrote:A flea market!!! Sheesh!! <hangs head in shame>
Glad you made a lucky deal, and rescued my work from it's ignominious end!
I've taken you off the list.
