Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

The thread needs to be locked. People can still vote until then.

I miscalculated when I set the duration of the poll. It may have something to do with the fact that I compiled the thread at oh, I think, 2:30 am after a long work day.

But all votes are being disregarded (by me). The thing is over and done.

Final scores:

Cloven [ 4 ]
Annie's Baby [ 4 ]
Got a Cigarette? [ 1 ]
Zany Granddaughter [ 9 ]
Cautious Captain [ 10 ]
The Associate [ 1 ]
Blueberry Summer [ 3 ]
Sarah shuffles through fallen leaves... [ 3 ]
Our Song [ 4 ]
Dissolution [ 2 ]

Total Votes : 41

And that's final. :)

Imagine our surprise when we went to vote this afternoon, on the 4th day, and saw that the polls were closed. Maybe I can't write my way out of a paper bag, but I can still count. No matter how you roll the die, Bloo, the 5th day isn't until tomorrow. :)

Fair enough. I was thinking Thursday. Anyway, I asked people to get their vote in soon. So I can't count my way out of a paper bag. ;)
And what are you doing anyway, sitting coyly on your vote?

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

I probably need to weigh in on this controversy about the vote. It's a little like Florida 2000, except that Bloomfield is no Katherine Harris. No way. I want to be Katherine Harris. In fact, here's a photo of me in my Katherine Harris costume & make-up:

Anyway, I think everyone ought to give Bloomfield the doubt here, given that he worked very hard on this nice contest. Given how close it was between the top two vote-getters, I need to look at publishing both on RHP.

More on this later which I'm not hungry AND late for work.

Anyway, I think everyone ought to give Bloomfield the benefit o'doubt here, given that he worked very hard on this nice contest. Given how close it was between the top two vote-getters, I need to look at publishing both on RHP, anyway. We can make the prize thing fair, too.

Or we can just cut the baby down the middle lengthwise.

More on this later which I'm not hungry AND late for work. AND meeting with the darn accountant.

I hope nobody takes me too seriously. I was justa jokin. It's not a controversy as far as I'm concerned. I think Captain was a much better story then mine.

And Dale, you must be tired since you double posted. Try some coffee, amphetamines, nicotine and booze. Mix in a tumbler and you're set for the day.

It's a terrible controversy! Susan, Lee, and I are fixing to rumble over third any day now. I realize that sometimes these small stories get lost in the glamour of the top placers, but 3rd place is where the real drama lies.
I just hope that Tequila worm is a biggie.

I've always wanted my very own scandal, so I resent all these concilliatory "it's okay" posts. But, what can you do?

Anyway, I've emailed Will O'B: he & his wife cast the last votes without realizing that I had closed the poll. I of course am too busy dreaming about my very own Bloomfield edition Maybach (you should see the cup holders!) to count properly, and voting was still possible when it shouldn't have been anymore. My mistake. Well, Cautious Captain & Zany Granddaughter were both really good, as were the other finalists, and lots of other entries.
