New Tin Whistle PDF Tunebooks with tablature and playback features

Post by eskin »

To support the newer Tin Whistle players who might be more comfortable with tab than sheet music alone, I put together some large PDF tunebooks of traditional Irish tunes with Tin Whistle tablature using my ABC Transcription Tools.

For all the tunebooks:

Click on the tune title above the notation for any tune to play the tune in my ABC Transcription Tools.

The tune names in the Table of Contents are hyperlinked to each tune in the tunebook.

Clicking on the arrows to the left of any tune takes you back to the Table of Contents.

Here is a step-by-step walkthrough of how I created those big PDF tunebooks including:

Title page with sub-title
Table of contents linked to each tune
Link back on each page to the table of contents
Page footers with hyperlink to a website
Playback links on every tune title
QR code with hyperlink and caption at the end of the tunebook

Demo video:
https://youtu.be/L0tiG-hX4eM

Here is the exact ABC annotation code I used in the video, put this before all your ABC tunes if you want to try it yourself:

%addtitle PDF Tunebook With Play Links Demo
%addsubtitle Click any Tune Title to Play the Tune
%urlpagefooter http://michaeleskin.com/abctools/abctool.html Click here to start using Michael Eskin's free ABC Transcription Tools
%addtoc Table of Contents
%addlinkbacktotoc
%add_all_playback_links 21 0
%pdfquality 0.7
%qrcode http://michaeleskin.com/box
%caption_for_qrcode Scan with your iOS or Android camera for more free resources for Traditional Irish Button Box Players

All of these and many other useful PDF annotations are fully described in the User Guide.

I learned from the tabs in the beginning whistling so they're a great help. Still can't read staff notation very well just the basics.

Tell us something.: I just started learning to play the tin whistle and have found, in the past, that forums are a great place to learn things. I happened upon this forum while looking for ways to mod my Waltons Mellow D whistle.

Oh, good good good good good!! I'm new to this and already having trouble wrassling different annotation systems, file formats, figuring out links to hear the music, organizing these things sensibly... This will help enormously!

Thanks for making it free. WOW!!
