Re: Low D Sweet vs Burke

Hi! I'm the shipper/office mgr for Ralph at Sweetheart Flutes. I don't believe the email sweetheartflute@aol.com received anything, and the best address for a reply is ralphsweet@aol.com and Ralph always always always answers his mail. To my knowledge, so does Walt, but I don't have his email so I c...

Re: Warning to makers: Walter Bender scam

And further, if you want to play with the scammers (I'm finding out how long I can keep them strung along) this is the sort of response you get from their oh-so-secure shipper (the reader is invited to count the stylistic errors, misuse of common English, and curious acceptance that jakesrobinson is...

Re: Warning to makers: Walter Bender scam

Look out for jakesrobinson@gmail.com too. Scam, but NOT QUITE as reported. They will not give out a credit card until the package is ready to ship. The credit card number may be freshly stolen and will not cause problems for months. OR the payment is cancelled/put on hold immediately after the goods...

Re: Onyx WDSweet whistle review

More a demo than a review, but nicely done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ww0AA-enzH8 agreed! I can't really do any better so I'll let it stand for itself. Only mistake was calling it a Sweetheart whistle, when it is a WDSweet instrument. I love my Resonance, and the Onyx certainly stands alongsid...

Re: Onyx WDSweet whistle review

No, the Onyx is nothing like Sweetheart's whistle from 13 years ago. <grin> in fact Sweetheart whistles are nothing like Sweetheart whistles from 13 years ago! These are available now in small quantity, from http://www.wdsweetflutes.com Walt is on his way over here right now...if anyone has Skype, y...

Sheer brilliance, Parkwood. I'm known for it.

I unpacked the car, accidentally dropped the whistle and didn't notice until I returned to my parking space and picked up the shattered, flattened, bludgeoned remains.

Re: Whistle head for flute

IMO going from a flute to a whistle is a step backward. You lose expressive range with the loss of the embouchure. If you are taking a low whistle and trying to fit a flute head on it, you're still going to have big issues. Physics be damned, that body design will (hopefully) be fine tuned to one me...

Re: Low D that takes less air?

I have the Kerry low D mentioned by the OP, and I agree that it's a wind sucker, in terms of volume of air needed in the 2nd octave. I use high G for the wind test, and with a full lungful I can play that note for 8 seconds, remembering to start the count at zero. Ubizmo Thirteen seconds for me on ...

Re: Onyx WDSweet whistle review

My needs for a whistle are simple: make it easy for me to make pleasant music. The Onyx has surely done that in the category of Low D whistle. Tyg, is the Onyx a brand new low D design or is it Ralph's current low D made from a different material? This low D is not from Sweetheart Flute Co...it is ...

Onyx WDSweet whistle review

So I'm back from the great Westbrook Fife and Drum Muster, and utterly unplanned, in possession of a new low D. First, a brief bio for those of you who may not know me. I began whistling about 10 years ago, playing in a local session for about 7 years, and have collected and sold and traded many whi...

RIP - Freeman D whistle

Please, a moment of silence for my Freeman Gen D whistle, which met and untimely death at the tire of my Honda CRV this week. It is a sad, sad thing. Sad and flat. And broke to bits.

Re: Going to the movies

I can't tolerate the moviegoing public any more, so I tend to watch at home. I can't tolerate Netflix when 2 of every 3 discs I get from them are damaged to the point of being unable to view. I catch what I can on the premium channels, and go to the library for the rest.
