Does anybody know where you buy one? How much? I'm interested in an A 5 body. Also good alternatives. Been searching but can't find much. Thanks

Question about Piper's Grip

I sprained my left wrist and so have switched to Piper's, my left thumb on the barrel. This enables an ergonomic grip and a straight wrist. I've been doing this for nearly a year (doctors, MRI, you name it) and I can play with a wrist brace and Piper's. The problem I'm having is that with PG the par...

Re: Ebonite

Here's one at IFS, but it is high pitched. It can be played at 440 with the tuning slight out three quarters of an inch, but Csharp takes lipping. https://www.irishflutestore.com/collect ... -ebonite-d Looking for other options.

Ebonite

I have a Rudall Carte keyed ebonite F flute, which is really great. Does anyone know how I can get my fins on a conical keyed ebonite D flute? I can wait and check the IFS....but I might wait forever.

According to an ad placed in the Irish Flute Market on Facebook, the flute is 5000 dollars and is in Buenos Aires. FWIW.

Re: 8 key Metzler

Question: This is bone/horn, not ivory? Whatever it is, what will American customs do? Can they tell the difference and in a short time? Perhaps people with experience can say something.

Re: Embouchure help: I'm playing too flat

Yes, Enough to iron out wrinkles about embouchure and grip and... Fundamentals. Can save you years. IMO a lesson or two at the beginning will do it. From then on the occasional workshop or even a lesson.....

Re: Embouchure help: I'm playing too flat

Second Steve's suggestion that you see a teacher a couple of times. Good idea at the beginning even if you aren't having problems. Check your grip too.

Re: Embouchure help: I'm playing too flat

Possibly rolling the flute out (away from your face) in the first octave will lift the pitch. Sometimes flute have to be 'blown in tune.'

Re: Transitioning from keyless to keyed

Just a note that one can play Bb in piper's by cross-fingering the note. With a little practice it works fine and easily. I need to keep my left wrist straight, which is why I shifted to piper's. I find piper's really ergonomic on flute.

Re: Transitioning from keyless to keyed

Play scales in lots of different keys, using the keys. Helpful practice. Also I use piper's grip and it works fine with keys, FWIW.

Re: Raising fingers too high? ( some conflicting advice)

Yes, I think relaxation is the key. If you play relaxed the fingers will naturally tend to the right distance from the hole. Yes, it's fine to raise fingers for strikes/rolls.
