Re: CP: Harper Classic Whistles - back for 2012

I have commented on this in the past and left open the possibility of a 'bad' one. Anyhow, water under the bridge. I really wanted to like it but couldn't. Very frustrating experience. I don't know when it was made. It wasn't numbered. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii19/Kilfarboy/Harper3_zps6a...

Re: CP: Harper Classic Whistles - back for 2012

I had one, very briefly. They're well made but it was also the most unbalanced whistle I have ever come across. I didn't want to play it, it gave me a headache, both for the extreme volume in the high octave and the air it took to get there. I am sorry to say it but it was a huge disappointment. Al...

Re: CP: Harper Classic Whistles - back for 2012

I have a Harper Classic D and always liked it; somehow, it exudes "cool." Liked the movie too, especially Natasha Mcelhone.

Re: Sindt prices....

Check this out. Saturday up here on Warren St in Hudson, a 7" tall Cossack figurine sold at auction for 5.2 million dollars; it had been pre-auction estimated at a mere $700,000. I stopped bidding at 5.1.

Re: Sindt prices....

I am wondering how much of this Sindt sought-afterness has been set in motion by Gavin Whelan's tutor book I very much doubt that, it may have played a small part for some but a book like that would not be that influential. Rather more I'd think of the use in competition of Sindt whisltes (which ha...

Re: Real Life Whistles Low & High

I have a Shaw high D from many years ago and at that time I thought I'd need an iron lung. That said, I've noticed that as you get more experienced, things like that become less and less of a problem. Also, I had the whistle tweaked and noted that yes it was easier to play at the time but regretted ...
