Re: Tips on getting into the third octave

The classic advice is to: - choose fingerings that make lower partials non-viable (eg third octave G as xox ooo) - narrow the jet (tighten the embouchure) - speed up the jet (higher pressure) - aim the jet higher (blow more across than down) If perhaps you do all those things at first, you might th...

Re: Casey Burns Flute

Yup it's Casey's standard flute without tuning slide (as opposed to Folk Flute). I've owned both a Folk Flute and a standard with slide. Great flutes, great craftsmanship, clean ferrel transitions (since that was mentioned above). I ended up moving onto a flute with a bit more volume/power, since I ...

Re: Provocation: Can you learn Flute in less than 5 years?

I think the topic of learning to play in 5 years has been well covered in this thread, and I agree regarding the 2 hours per day (or even just 1 hour per day) recommendation. WTB: ABW, Mopane, or Delrin flute in D (keyed or keyless) DONE

Based on my other post, doesn't look like anyone is currently selling a keyed delrin flute, so I thought I'd post again looking for a keyed or keyless flute in delrin, African Blackwood, Mopane, or a similarly denser wood. Looking for a flute less affected by the elements and moisture than my curren...

WTB: Keyed delrin/synthetic flute in D DONE

Thought I'd check for keyed flutes before falling back to keyless. Let me know if you have a keyed delrin flute looking for a new home! Thanks for looking :).

Re: Responses to User Instrument forum.

Yup, I've noticed the same. Maybe Gmail is more aggressively blocking the new "dalewiely@gmail.com" sender because it's a personal Gmail.

Re: Responses to User Instrument forum.

Something that I encountered recently both for myself and someone who was purchasing an instrument from me, was that the new forum version sends emails in a way that Gmail auto-spams them. Even after marking them as OK. So I guess something to keep in mind when buying/selling for people that don't ...
