I attended a workshop held by Brian McNamara in Copenhagen 2 years ago and he couldn't understand how people like myself could play in a "vacuum" that is with no other up:s around. But this is what it's all about isn't it... The love of the music and your instrument in special. Doesn't mat...

Being self-taught is so slow comparing to have a teacher. I am self-taught and I agree in a lot of things said in the earlier post. Timing and rythm are the most difficult to get right as are the ornamentations. I think I play very unorthodox and probably not half as good as I would have if I had ha...

I am actually complaining, and since I've paid him in advance to correct a chanter he made I am quite interested in hearing from him one way or the other. I like that chanter very much but being without it for more than a year would make anyone wonder and turn elsewhere in the future...wouldn't it?

Thank you guys for all advice.
Have just spoken with S. Gallagher and confirmed my order.
A year waiting is a long wait. But what I've heard his pipes are definitely worth the wait... :boggle:

I will be coming to the Copenhagen Irish festival this year. I think I have made up my mind. If I buy a set it will probably be all things from the same maker. Thanks for all help, if there is still some comments and hints please let me know.

I've been thinking of a Frank. set since I've got a great craftsman doing some wondrous things on the bordeer pipes and the GHB herre in Sweden. He is able to get me some wonderful drones but the cost in total will be almost the same thing as the full set would cost ( with regs included). What the h...

Taking the plunge - getting a full set

You have all probably heard this before but I am very much thinking of getting a full set of pipes. It's just that it is such a lot of money so I don't want to get something that is not ok. At the moment I'm playing a C. Roberts half set with a D. Daye delrin chanter. I was thinking of getting a set...
