Re: Devondancer update

Lesley continues to make good progress. She is moving her arm-painfully as she has no analgesia but moving it. Her heart is stable and there does not appear to be any damage to it, apart from the fact that it stopped of course! It is now beating in 4/4, she says. We hope she may come home tomorrow w...

She has woken up and she knows me. Now she is sleeping. Her heart is stable now. Thank you all.

Re: Devondancer update

No real change yet. she is still unconscious but seems to be listening to music. A friend is with her while i am resting. Thank you for your care.
I have given her a new avatar as a surprise for when she wakes up. One of the birds she loves so much.

Re: Devondancer update

She is not doing well at present. Got through surgery but collapsed with another reaction to anaesthetic in recovery. She was resuscitated but is deeply unconscious. She has the best specialists with her so there is hope and she is Lesley - there is always hope. Life is dark here until she wakes up....

Re: Devondancer update

Hello. it's Ro. I wanted to let you know that Lesley re-broke her shoulder last week and is having surgery tomorrow to fix it. She is very upbeat about it but you know and i know how she is with surgery. Your thoughts and prayers will be most welcome, friends. Thank you all.

Re: Devondancer update

My dad, no singer but a lover of poetry and verse, used to quote that often!

Simon, I like your dancing!

Re: Devondancer update

I am sorry, Steve. We are away that week, or I would have been there, with a whistle in mmy pocket, of course! We have to go to London, of all the awful places to have to visit! Simon, I love the way language crossed the Atlantic. I have just finished reading Bill Bryson on the subject. Fasina...

Re: Devondancer update

Contradict away, Steve! I was looking for you! It does not seem to be used here in east Devon, and certainly is referred to as in use in Dorset and Somerset, so one would have thought it would have trickled down to us here! I will ask around, when I am next out. I am surprised my grandfather did not...

Re: Devondancer update

Thank you, Simon. I did recognise it, and might adopt it when you have finished with it! I know you know dance music, from some earlier comments, so for all I know you may be a dancer too! Mike, thank you for that research. I looked it up in my book of dialects, but it was not there, and I have not ...

Re: Devondancer update

No, Simon, I have not heard it used here in Devon at all. We do have all sorts of funny expressions, and a slower speech with a lot of piratical "arrs," but I have not met that particular expression. I should be interested to know where in the UK it is used, if anyone knows. I love your &q...

Re: Devondancer update

Oh, we are all pirates down here! Ask Steve Shaw: he even looks like one! :D And if we are not pirates, our ancestors were, or they were wreckers, or excise men! I have both wreckers and excise men in my family tree. However, we do not all talk like pirates! I have a boringly British accent,...

Re: Devondancer update

Wow, I have reappeared! Thanks for all the good wishes, and the pictures, Denny and Mute. All is well here in wet Devon! At least we no longer have snow, unlike so many of you. We are still doing lots of walking, accompanied by Elbow Crutch, of course, and Stupid Stick still lurks indoors, waiting.....
