Re: We all hate these, but...considering concertina

Pretty much the only playable instruments are the Rochelle or a re-worked new Stagi from Button Box in Sunderland MA. Check their very good web site. A 20 button really won't work for ITM. If you play for a year you'll be working hard to figure out how to buy a hybrid for $1500-$2000.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance

I've never been a Jane Austin reader, or a George Romero fan. I'll probably wait for the movie. 23 on the Amazon best seller list 10 days before publication. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/510XXFxXXGL._SS500_.jpg The moderators should feel free to move this as I have no idea which forum is ap...

Re: ebay concertinas/accordions

Not a good place for beginner instruments. Try Button Box or Concertina Connection. The better instruments are few but often quite good. They'll cost $3k and up.

Re: Do you wear (or carry) a watch?

I wear one but find lots of reasons to take it off. That said, there are lots of clocks everywhere judging by all those clocks the real time seems to be+/- 5 minutes either way.

Fine examples of out-of-the-box thinking. Text me to take a meeting with the front office people about re-slotting your compensation package.

Sad Day in the Concertina World - We Lost Rich Morse

Rich Morse was the leader and founder of the Button Box in Massachusetts. He also designed and built Morse Concertinas. He died yesterday from a recurrence of cancer. Concertina players around the world are shocked and saddened. This is a great loss. http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php?showto...

Re: "Celtic Woman"

They wouldn't sell it if people didn't like it. And people do love it! More often than not, if I happen to tell someone I play Irish music, they will say something like -- "Oh I love Celtic Woman". I used to try to explain but now I just smile and say -- that's great. It is pledge time an...

Doesn't work so well with my owner. I find jumping to the middle of the bed and pushing him to the floor works better.

Re: Concertina before button accordion?

I must say anyhow that concertinas are good-looking instruments (except the cheap plastic ones). Mine ain't ugly: http://concertina.jeffleff.com/graphics/WakHayWhtBkg1.gif Very pretty. Is that from Wim? Also Wim Wakker has moved Concertina Connection the US. Harry Geuns always made the hybrids and ...

Re: Anyone here a member of AARP?

I also belong to AARP. The dues are cheap. I usually agree with their advocacy positions and the magazine usually has at least one interesting or fun item. As for "America", I accept that as a country we are sometimes dangerously self-absorbed. That said, I think we are the only country on...

Re: USA, CONNECTICUT/RHODE ISL., TEACHER SOUGHT, FLUTE & WHISTLE

A few places to google and call for suggestions. Skip Healy in Providence. He's a flute maker and may know someone in the area teaching whistle. The Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland. They produce lots of Irish music programs with both local on Irish performers. They may be able to point you to...
