Thanks

Many thanks to everyone for their kind words. Lulu was a fine cat and a fine friend. And while opinion seems divided, I'm sure she was a whistle lover. (High whistles only, I'd just started working with low whistles and she had no interest.) Sometimes when she was outside and it was getting dark, an...

Cats and Whistles

I'll get the hard part out of the way first. Ten days ago we lost out 12 yr old cat, Lulu, to a coyote in the back yard. :sniffle: I've been playing the whistle for less than a year. Lulu was the greatest, possibly the only, fan of my whistle playing. Shortly after I received my first inexpensive wh...

Staying with this theme, Cyfiawnder makes a lot of sense. I don;t know any whistle makers, but I do know something about skills and talent. I work in a large organization with lots of highly skilled engineers and lawyers. Frequently when a front line supervisory position opens up, the person selecte...

I also have one of Dave's copper D whistles. I got it a month or so ago from e-bay. Since I've only been playing forf 6 months, I don't have a whistle collection to compare it to. It does tend to clog a bit. Any advice about clogging is welcome. Having said that, I very much like its feel and sound....

Still being new to all this, I'm wondering what sort of whistle a heterosexual girlie-man would play? I think I probably belong, since I've never much cared for Arhhhhnold's politics. He's much easier to take when he's killing aliens in the jungle in a nice cartoonish sort of way. The idea him setti...

Old Whistles??

Good morning I'm new to C&F and new to playing the whistle. While playing the whistle is new to me, I've had the "collecting" gene all my life. I already have 1/2 dozen inexpensive whistles and will be back looking for guidance on more whistles. It is fun to see how much better the whi...

New book Irish Music History, Boston - Old Whistle Question

Good morning I'm new to C&F and new to playing the whistle. I saw the posts on the passing of Andy McGann and the information and pictures on his influence on Irish music in an earlier time. Besides the music, one of the attractions of the whistle is it's links to the past and, for me, to my Iri...
