I find it hard to advise people about this topic. Really hard. There's such a wide range of choices and probable not a single instrument that addresses every need, and maybe not even all the needs of a particular player. I'm a big fan of Overtons. I've long championed the latter day Howards as a go...

I was in Phil Hardy's workshop the other day blowing various whistles "hot off the press". I have to say that they were all good (and that's not because he currently has his foot on my head!). I think he's doing some kind of free E/Eflat deal at the moment if you buy a tuneable Low D. Seem...

In the U.K. it's now illegal to play a whistle in a car unless it's "hands-free".
Anyone have any tune suggestions?
I'm just off to do some "hands-free" cello practice, otherwise known as watching the telly.

Just thought of something else.
In the reverb stakes, the M3000 from t.c. electronic is hard to beat.

Here's an old trick, but it might just work.
I've always used just a single mike but, if trying to get something in one take which goes all the way through the range of the instrument, turning away from the mike for the higher (some might say screechier) stuff has worked, for me, in the past.

Does the word "ringpiece" exist in Murrcan? Never heard it before. I had to look it up at Urbandictionary.com (Don't do it if you're easily offended. In fact, never visit that site if your ever offended at all.) Now I see where you're coming from. Not offended at all. I'm a musician (?!)....

Very good! But not what I had in mind. Think the worst type of musician's gutter-humour. I think there might be a Scottish-American disconnect, here. Does the word "ringpiece" exist in Murrcan? Come to think of it, I've never heard any of my American colleagues use it. However, they are a...

Oh, I don't know. Late-night relaxation, fat-chewing, keeping the cold out, setting the world to rights, maintaining the Scottish economy, ......there are a multitude of reasons for those who need none.

They could give you "the" chair.
Not that I'm anxious to try it.

Sorry - couldn't resist. My slowdowner software of choice comes in various shades of brown, is usually packaged in glass and is mainly manufactured in the Scottish Highlands. www.ringflute.com Maybe I'm just a terminal curmudgeon, but you'd think that the maker would bother to A: build it in tune or, B: have someone who can play in tune demonstrate it?! Makes sense to me. Ouch! Or both, maybe. Nice tune, though. Vaguely familiar. I'm trying to place it. Seems like I've ...
