I did actually ask Phil Hardy that question directly, and he said it was because of the weight. I owned three of them at one time, loved the sound, but didn't find them to be overly responsive.

I have ordered one and will post a review on the Pipersgrip website when I've had some time to check it out. Looks like the grey/graphite color will be standard, but I was kinda psyched to get a black one!
