What instrument?

So what instrument should I get my new baby to play? I play the whistle and pipes, husband plays banjo, planning for my 1 year old son to play fiddle. So what instrument goes well with those? I am due at the end of September. :D

Legends of the Fall.

I saw that movie in Berkeley when I was in college and the entire audience was jeering at it. When the woman shot herself, everyone clapped.

Loved Fargo, BTW.

This is sad...we are actually suffering from a major bee shortage in California, so much so that some thieves in the Central valley have recently been STEALING swarms of bees to sell to farmers.

A waste of good bees...

I think there is something to be said for the communal experiencing of music and different groups certainly do use different music to identify themselves. Organizations, sports teams, TV shows, and political movements often have their particular "theme songs." On just a general listening ...

I drank caffeinated coffee for many years until it started giving me heart palpitations. Then I decided to switch to decaf. I did it gradually, cutting back to half caff and then just to 1 spoonful of caff and then total decaf. It was pretty easy & I didn't have to give up my morning ritual of c...

We are going at the end of April for my brother-in-law's wedding so we will probably not go in the summer this year. Especially since we have a toddler now so I would be more picky about accomodations, and we haven't booked any. Have fun Claudine!

Re: My baby's favorite piper is...

You mean he hasn't come to appreciate mom's tight triplet's and her adaptation of the Ennis crann???:-) My kids got played a bunch of Steeleye Span growing up and they still remember the tunes. ESPECIALLY the murder ballads. Ha ha! Mommy's pipes are not music; they are a fun toy! That's why mommy d...

My baby's favorite piper is...

John McSherry! Every time I have a John McSherry recording on, Eoghan goes "diddle, diddle, diddle" and starts to dance. Robbie Hannan is pretty popular too.

Just sharing. :-)

Recycling of plastic is a myth. It is usually NOT recycled at all. It's more often simply collected and then put in the landfill. If it does actually get "recycled", it's actually not recycled at all. They don't make another plastic container out of it. They shred it up for some other thi...

What nobody bothers to notice is that if you eat that silly yogurt you waste a container of plastic that will never biodegrade for about 6 spoonfuls of yogurt. I buy big tubs of plain yogurt, dump some in a bowl, and stir in a little homemade jam for a good fruity yogurt. My teen daughter likes the...

Honestly I can't think of an 80's band I don't like! The Smiths were just about my favorite band ever.

I see cowtime has my picture up now. I look particularly good in that one, don't you think?

My favorite Jane Austen book is Persuasion. It's the story of a woman who breaks up with the love of her life and ends up regretting it and then meets him again many years later.
