Hi Folks, I hate to say it, but after being in Ireland for a month and half now (one month to go), I have really come to the conclusion that it is, almost completely, the player who is responsible for the tone of the flute. Having reacently learned how to really play the Grinter, I can give it just ...

I knew this would be a controversial issue  First off, I didn't mean to offend anyone, especially not any of the wonderful whistle craftsmen, Mr. hardy included. I myself love the low whistle and have quite a collection of them. Indeed, low whistles do appear on many CDs these days and are oft...

Okay... just as with whistles, the wooden flute world in Ireland is completely different. People would not even consider spending upwards of a thousand dollars for a keyless flute. People over here play flutes mostly by Hammy Hamilton, Eamonn Cotter, and Sam Murray, few of which cost more than $500....

Being here has really made me think about our (collective)whistle obsession. People here DO NOT play fancy whistles. In three weeks I've been here I've seen ...

Hi everybody, Chris Laughlin here. Out of pure chance, Azalin, now known as Bog Hill Bob, and I met up on our second day here and have had no end of fun since then. We have been at unbelievable sessions every single night, I haven't paid for a single beer yet (and I've drunk far too many!), and.... ...

Hi Jessie and Arto, I'm leaving for Ireland tonight and will be there until September 5. Besides Willy Clancy Summer School I have no solid plans -just a backpack, boots, tent, flute and whistle -so I'd love to meet up with both of you. I'm flying into Shannon and will be adventuring around that are...
