re I've dug this up - it may help
Hi mitch,
fascinating stuff in those links, seems like it's closer than I thought.
Some of the chanters aren't that expensive either.
Good luck with the business BTW.

technological fix
I guess as aspiring whistlers we all have this problem of finding a quiet place to practice and somewhere that we can play without disturbing other people. I adore practicing, getting a tune up to speed, working on one section of a tune or a set of rolls whatever. But my situation means that I've go...

Here's the reason I want to play this music http://www.kerrywhistles.com/dl.php?group=23
4th file down
Totally inspirational. Does anyone here have a regular session that's as good as this?
Who is Dave Williams?
Also does anyone have a tweak to make a Susato vsb sound a bit mellower?

backpressure
alright then medium backpressure. I've got a Bleazey which sounds beautiful but it takes a lot of puff. I've also got a couple of Susatos and the vsb is closest to my ideal but it's not a satisfying sound to my ears albeit very in tune. So my amended wishlist is a generation type, narrow bore, easy ...

Chieftain low D to swap
Hi all, I've got a Chieftain low D (new style) non tuneable whistle that never gets played which I'd rather swap than sell. I'm still searching for my perfect high D; something like a Humphrey or a Sindt or Mack Hoover whitecap, sweet and pure, high backpressure and in tune. If anyone has anything i...

I've been experimenting with whistles for a while now. It seems that getting the second octave in tune is the tricky bit. What works for me is a constriction at the top of the bore. I've managed to make a D whistle that plays in tune throughout by placing a fairly tight fitting thin walled tube abou...
