Re: Regulators, Rhythm and Piles of Pulled Hair
That's what I've found, too. The harder I try to vamp on the regs the higher the probability of a crash and burn incident. It's best not to try to think too hard about it, but to really feel the rhythm in the tune in a bodily way and just kind of learn to flick your wrist in time with that rhythm wh...

Re: St. Patrick's Day activities
I went to work yesterday and put in my time, then went off to the pub to do a gig with the missus and a few friends. It was noisy but fun and we had an appreciative audience of mixed generations - literally 3 months old to about retirement age.

Re: Geantraí with David Power
I just figured it out. You have to use the TG4 Beo player. Go to http://beo.tg4.ie/ , click on "Ceol", then on "Geantrai 07/03/10 Pt 1." David's performance is about two thirds of the way through. Fantastic piping and the chanter sounds great. How's that for a St Plast...

Re: Collapsed Reed..
A viable alternative to a case humidifier is a humidifier for your dwelling. I run two humidifiers in my two bedroom condo from late November until April. I sometimes put a few pots water on the stove when needed. I aim for about 50 to 55 percent relative humidity. It suits my needs well. YMMV.

I know you meant high ranking NPU members. Some of those people lurk here all the time...some of them even post regularly.

Re: Gentlemen (pipers) cross their legs
Successful pipers don't hold the chanter as if it were a Boehm flute. For every portrait of a piper holding the chanter in that manner there are just as many holding it with flat left hand fingers. I suspect Professor O'Leary was a self taught player with some prior experience on the flute.
