Doesn't Paddy Moloney use a Seth Gallagher set now? or is he still using the Roesome chanter?

Yeah, i've been transatlantic with pipes and fiddles before, both in their proper cases - not much problems. they might try and tell u the size is too large, etc., so just get really charming and tell them how much the stuff is worth, and it's been handed down for 9 generations, and your great great...

Hey Redwolf, I've just spent about half a minute sitting in the office playing the air harp to think about the answer!!! As you should always be hitting around the middle of each string you're playing, your hand position will have to move vertically as welll as horizontally. Also, the harp is rested...

yeah, the harp's perfectly sound to leave it whatever way you want. i keep my two harps under the stairs lying back to back. i've piled 4 harps on top of each other in my car a couple of times. don't worry about it. just be careful about putting stuff on top of it. glad to hear the ring finger is wa...

hey redwolf, my advice is to grip the strings a little tighter and instead of being cautious with it, really pull your finger back into your palm. The middle finger, having a tighter grip on it's string should not move. this goes for all strings, you should be pulling the strings so that your finger...

Woops, i stand corrected  i always found myself hanging out with the flute teachers and having sessions with paddy ryan, john mchugh (foxford) and pj hernon. The pipes lessons were in a different venue, so ..... anyway, it's a great festival, very well organised by John McNamara and John McHug...

Wasn't dissing the school at all Uilleam, I love it there and taught at it for 3 years. The piping teachers were always top class but there is only ever one piping teacher, unlike the Willie Week, etc.

It also seems that Birl was looking for something more intensive than a one-week course.

The Achill Summer school is in Achill in Co. Mayo. I used to teach harp it. It wouldn't be ideal for what you're looking for. I'd go with the Willie week for definite. There'd be multiple classes for pipers on various learning curves. Following this, there's Drumshambo in Co. Leitrim and Tubbercurry...

For E or e you need to do a trill instead of vibrato. This is wavering the note above your chosen note, i.e. F# on E. This works well for other notes as well, except for back d, of course. I should also say that this sounds better in jigs and reels than in slow airs. djm you don't have to necessari...

yeah, i'm of the same opinion, my last set wasn't great and being only 100 miles or so from the maker made no difference. get a good instrument for sure, but only if you're committed, as the price difference can be quite large between an average practice set and a top of the range. i'd say you'll ge...
